Welcome to the BABC in the Yorkshire and Humber
"The British American Business Council in Yorkshire and the Humber is the natural focal point for our most valuable, but under-emphasised, international trade partner. It is the embodiment of the close professional, business, and cultural relationships between the United Kingdom and the United States and it continues to be a catalyst for strong and lasting trade partnerships between our two countries.
I would encourage every Yorkshire individual, business and organisation to take a positive, active part in the BABC, and reap the many rewards that this opportunity brings."
Aaron Mowla
Chairman
British American Business Council for Yorkshire & the Humber
The British American Business Council for Yorkshire & the Humber is part of the largest transatlantic business network. With over 3000 members – including some of the world’s largest multi-nationals, the BABC has organisations in nineteen US cities, Canada, Puerto Rico, and five UK regions.
The BABC for Yorkshire & the Humber offers an unparalleled opportunity for UK businesses and organisations to extend their reach into the US, and for US companies and associations to deliver their products, services and messages to the entire Yorkshire business community.
In the most recent figures available from the UK Government, Yorkshire and the Humber exported a staggering £1,553,461,000 worth of goods to North America in 2006. Service sector exports are estimated to be of the same magnitude. Between 2000 and 2006 the regions exports globally grew by 50%. This is despite figures showing that only 3.6% of Yorkshire businesses actively and deliberately trade internationally 1.
Membership of the BABC offers the ability to market across the entire network, gain introductions, access business intelligence data, attend local events and seminars, and participate in Annual Transatlantic Business Conferences.
“The BABC has fully earned our support, and we look forward to continuing to work closely with the organization to build its further success in the future.”
The Hon. Robert H. Tuttle, US Ambassador to the Court of St. James’s & Sir Nigel Sheinwald, HM Ambassador to the United States
